About the Role

Join our Sustainability team within the Research Area Consumer & IndustryLab—an agile and diverse organization within Ericsson Research. We are driven by curiosity and a passion for shaping a sustainable, connected future by understanding consumer, industry, and societal needs. We are now seeking a Sustainability Researcher to strengthen our team and contribute to standardization efforts related to the environmental impact assessment and the societal impact of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), particularly in the development of 6G technology.

 

Ericsson’s 6G vision, introduced in 2020, continues to be instrumental in transforming business and society in the 2030s through secure, efficient, and sustainable communication services. As we enter a critical phase of 6G regulation and standardization, we invite researchers to collaborate in co-creating a cyber-physical world.

 

What You Will Do

  • Contribute to research and standardization activities related to sustainability in 6G including life cycle assessments, methodology development, data collection of climate-related impacts of the ICT industry.
  • Perform use case impact assessments and study system effects of 6G and AI.
  • Drive innovation and improvements in sustainability by staying informed about industry practices and contributing to development efforts.
  • Publish and communicate research findings internally and externally.
  • Be part of a highly motivated, multi-disciplinary research team working collaboratively.
  • Work in a dynamic organization with opportunities for growth, responsibility, and impact.

 

The skills you bring

  • MSc degree in engineering with a focus on environmental sustainability and/or life cycle assessment fields.
  • The ideal candidate also has experience of socio-economical sustainability assessments, particularly related to the introduction of AI in society.
  • Strong analytical mindset.
  • Good understanding of the ICT industry.
  • Excellence in communication and collaboration skills with a proven drive for results.
  • Experience in publishing research at high-quality conferences and journals.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Professionalism, Perseverance, Respect, and Integrity as Ericsson’s core values.
