Underground Rock Mechanics Engineer

Work duties

Your main task is to develop and present risk analyses, dimensioning criterias and rock reinforcement plans for our mines production planning. This is done by performing:
• Rock inspections including geomechanical characterization
• Evaluation of rock-mass strengths and material properties
• Field measurements
• Rock mechanics stability analysis

The work includes performing:
• Logging of drill cores
• Empirical and analytical analysis of stopes, pillars, and shafts
• Development of the rock mechanical work for application in production.

The position is based at the mining engineering department in Boliden and the work is carried out largely in cooperation with our mines planning and production staff, geologists and colleagues at mining engineering.

Education and qualifications

You have a Master’s degree in Mining or Civil engineering or related discipline. Experience of rock mechanics is a merit. The position involves travelling. You speak and write Swedish and English unhindered and you can present suggestions orally and in writing in a structured manner and have good communication skills with all levels of the organisation. All candidates must be legally authorized to work in Sweden
