Section Manager – Production Engineering

 

Metals exist and are needed everywhere. Boliden extracts minerals and produces metals with high quality in a cost effective manner. The work is characterized by a concern for people, the environment and society. Boliden Mines staff function has approximately 250 employees and includes, among other departments Technology, Exploration, Business Development, HR & Sustainability.

The task of the mining engineering department is to support the mines within the Business Area Mines in everything from problem solving and methodological support in operations to project planning for new areas in the mines and evaluation of new deposits. The mining engineering department also includes the sections for Rock Mechanics and Mine Planning.

Work duties

The production engineering section works on mine infrastructure and production machinery and
processes. Mine infrastructure includes ventilation, water, transport systems,
etc. The production processes include drilling and blasting, loading and
transport, and rock reinforcement.  The section’s engineers design infrastructure, dimension machinery, calculate capacities and carry out profitability analyses. They participate in implementation of new technologies out in the mines and support improvement work at the mines with follow-up and analyses.

The section currently consists of 8 employees. As section manager, you will report to the manager of
the mining engineering department. You will plan, manage and allocate work within the
section. You will be responsible for developing staff and working methods, and
will carry out your own engineering assignments. 

You will maintaincustomer contact with the mine planning departments at all the mines. 

Many of the projects involve contact with suppliers, consultants, universities and colleges, within
Sweden and abroad. Each year, we have a number of undergraduate students and interns who are supervised by the section manager.

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Boliden. The starting date is subject to agreement.

Education and qualifications

You should be a graduate engineer, preferably with training in mining and construction engineering, or the equivalent. Experience of working with operational mining activities would be an advantage. The work requires good interpersonal skills, a desire and knowledge to lead others, and good knowledge of Swedish labour law.

You should be able to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English. A category B driving licence is a requirement.
