Development Engineer – EHS (Environment, Health and Safety)

Metals exist and are needed everywhere. Boliden extracts minerals and produces metals with high quality in a cost effective manner. The work is characterized by a concern for people, the environment and society. Boliden Mines staff function has approximately 300 employees and includes, among other departments Technology, Exploration, Business Development, HR & Sustainability.

Work duties

Boliden works actively to and maintain high environmental, health, safety and quality standards, and we are now looking for a person  devoted to Health, Safety and Environment issues and with a passion for making improvements in the area.

Your task will be to develop the safety culture, the systematic work environment management and the environmental work for the Exploration Department at Boliden Mines. You will be an expert in EHS, and be able to provide support to the managers in the Exploration Department. As the Exploration Department carries out projects, you will also need to provide project support for EHS issues. As an EHS-expert you will support all of the Exploration Department’s operational areas in Finland, Sweden and Ireland. You will be part of the audit team, and will carry out internal investigations, plan and implement training and cooperate with authorities, industry organisations and other employees within Boliden’s operations, etc. The work will be conducted in close cooperation with the Exploration Department’s and the Business Area’s management teams. You will be based in Boliden.

Education and qualifications

You are a work environment engineer or possess another relevant university/college education. Experience of practical work regarding EHS issues within exploration or the mining industry would be an advantage. You need to be self-motivated, creative and have the ability to work in groups. Naturally, you will be able to act as a representative of Boliden’s safety culture. Since there are operational areas in Ireland and Finland, as well as Sweden, you must also be able to express yourself well in both written and spoken English and Swedish. Finnish would be an advantage. 

As the position involves travelling, you must hold a category B driving licence.
