Rock Mechanic Engineer to the Mining Technology Department

For assignment to the Kankberg mine.

The Technology department is one of several centralized staff functions providing support to all mines.



Work duties

As a rock mechanic, you will take part in the creation of safe and controlled mining. Your ongoing responsibilities include inspection and assessment of rock conditions, documentation, evaluation, and reconciliation as well as support to operations for questions relating to ongoing mining. Your main tasks include the completion of risk assessments as well as the development of design criteria and rock reinforcement plans for the mine’s short- and long-term production plans. Your work will be done largely in collaboration with the mine’s planning and production staff, geologists, and colleagues in the Technology department. Your work also includes the participation in rock mechanical development work and further contact within the mining industry. You will initially work primarily with the Kankberg mine. The posted job is a permanent, full-time position with Boliden as the primary location and site visits to our other mines within Sweden and Europe are a given within the job. A start date will be agreed upon.

Education and qualifications

You have a university or civil engineering degree with relevant focus. Experience within mines or other underground facilities is an advantage. The job requires that you are able to communicate in written and spoken form in both Swedish and English. A B-class driver’s license is a requirement. It is important that you have a strong analytical focus, can work in an independent and structured way, and are able to communicate clearly.
