Account Manager Nordic

The drug research and development process is highly complex, lengthy and expensive, yet essential for delivering safe and effective therapies to patients. Even though the process is reasonably well-defined, drug development programs are fundamentally different for each product, as the exact testing and submission requirements are shaped by many unique factors. To help customers navigate this process, Charles River offers a wide range of products and services that span the entire drug discovery and development continuum and can be tailored to specific research conditions.

Charles River has five main service areas; basic research, drug discovery, safety assessment, clinical development and manufacturing. Charles River has a global presence involving more than 70 facilities in 16 countries. The HQ is based in Wilmington, Mass, USA.

As part of Charles River Laboratories’ strategy to further expand in the Nordic market, Charles River is now, in collaboration with Mercuri Urval, looking to recruit an Account Manager for the Nordic countries.  

The successful candidate will in accordance to Charles River’s strategy build a platform for market expansion on the Nordic markets focusing on services within the Discovery and Safety Assessment areas of the drug development process, targeting mid-tier pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. You will meet and connect with key decision makers in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland to firmly establish Charles River’s market presence in these countries. Sweden and Denmark will be prioritized markets initially. The Account Manager will report to the Regional Sales Manager.  

A proactive, sales-driven approach is essential, as you are expected to identify and keep track of new upcoming business opportunities. You will work with management to prepare and implement a comprehensive territory management plan to indicate target opportunities, potential new accounts, expansion of existing accounts and an analysis of competitor accounts. Handling inquires and qualifying prospective opportunities is an important part of the job. Identifying the client’s drug development business model and effectively communicate the value proposition of Charles River’s product and services is also a core responsibility in this position. You will work closely with Charles River’s specialist sales staff, ensuring that the customer has a solid and responsive team throughout the sales process. To respond effectively to upcoming business opportunities, you will also cooperate closely with Charles River’s client services department, based at different locations across Europe.  

We are looking for a qualified candidate with relevant work experience within life science, solid know-how related to drug development and a proven track record from a sales position, minimum 2-3 years of sales experience. We believe you have an educational background from university or similar, with at least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in life science. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience as described above.    

We expect excellent language skills; English and Swedish and/or Danish. The Account Manager will initially be working from a home office based either in the Malmö/Stockholm or Copenhagen region.
